Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Forward Raphael Bussieres has been recalled from the Quad City Mallards by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, the Mallards announced today.
Bussieres, 22, is tied for fourth in the ECHL in goals (8) and has added 6 assists for 14 points in 16 games this season. The 6' 1", 195-pound Longueuil, Quebec native has also posted a plus/minus rating of +5.
Bussieres returns to the AHL after skating in nine games with Iowa last season. He also scored three times and picked up 13 assists for 16 points in 19 ECHL games with the Alaska Aces last year. As a rookie in 2013-14 Bussieres provided five goals, 14 assists and 19 points in 61 games with Iowa.
Bussieres was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the second round of the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the forty-sixth overall choice. He skated for four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and- briefly- Moncton Wildcats. Bussieres registered 74 goals, 94 assists and 168 points in 226 career QMJHL games. In 2012-13 he scored 29 goals and added 39 assists for 68 points in 60 games while helping Baie-Comeau to a division title and a berth in the QMJHL President's Cup finals.
The Mallards are next in action on the road tomorrow night against the Missouri Mavericks. The Mallards next play at home Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Kalamazoo Wings. Friday will be Blackout Night: the Mallards will celebrate Black Friday by wearing special edition (nearly) all black sweaters against the Wings. Those jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit the Genesis Health Services Foundation Saturday night following the Mallards' match-up with the Cincinnati Cyclones at the iWireless Center. Friday evening is also a $1 Beer/$1 Dog Night presented by 97X. Fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 beers at all Mallards' Friday night home games. In addition, Friday is a MetroLINK College Night. The Mallards have once again partnered with Metro to provide transit service between Augustana College and downtown Moline during Friday home games. As part of Metro's unlimited ride program, Augustana riders can use their Augustana ID as their fare.
