Admirals Sign Four, Send Two to Mississippi

NORFOLK - Today, Norfolk Admirals General Manager Claude Loiselle announced that the Admirals have signed forward Rob Klinkhammer and defenseman Brett Angel to two-way American Hockey League/ECHL contracts while also signing forwards Justin Taylor and Shawn Collymore to AHL Professional Tryout Contracts. Also, the Admirals have announced that goaltenders Jonathan Boutin and Morgan Cey have been assigned to the Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL).

Klinkhammer, 6-foot-3 and 209 pounds, is entering his first professional season after four seasons in the Western Hockey League. He had a goal and an assist in two preseason games with Norfolk. Last season, Klinkhammer scored 33 goals and added 40 assists in 66 WHL games between the Seattle Thunderbirds, Portland Winter Hawks and Brandon Wheat Kings.

Angel, 6-foot-6 and 229 pounds, racked up 19 penalty minutes in Norfolk's two preseason games over the weekend. The third round draft pick of the Nashville Predators in 1999 split last season between the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League and Toledo Storm of the ECHL, posting an assist and 54 penalty minutes in 16 games with the Fury and going scoreless with 17 PIM for the Storm.

Taylor, 6-foot-3 and 207 pounds, was scoreless in the preseason but had four goals and an assist in five scrimmages with the Admirals. He played last season with the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the AHL, posting eight goals and 12 assists in 51 games. He also had two goals for Omaha in six Calder Cup Playoff contests.

Collymore, 6-foot-0 and 193 pounds, recorded two assists in two preseason games and also had two goals in five scrimmage games with the Admirals. He played last season with the Reading Royals (ECHL) and the Binghamton Senators (AHL), netting 16 goals and adding 32 assists in 55 games for the Royals and scoring one goal in nine games for the Senators.

Klinkhammer, Angel, Taylor and Collymore will be unavailable to play in the Admirals' regular season opener this Friday as they complete the immigration process.

Boutin, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, appeared in 37 games with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) last season, posting a 9-17-1 record with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage. He also played three games with the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL), going 0-2-0 with a 3.08 GAA and .919 save percentage.

Cey, 6-foot-3 and 177 pounds, appeared in 47 games for Johnstown last season with a 20-21-3 record, 2.93 GAA and .916 save percentage. Cey appeared in one preseason game for Norfolk, stopping seven of ten shots in 20 minutes of action on Saturday in Hershey.

The Admirals open their eighth season of American Hockey League action and first season as the top affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night in Philadelphia. The game will be televised on the big screen at Baxter's Sports Lounge in Downtown Norfolk in the first B2 Night at Baxter's of the season. The Admirals will come to Scope for the first time in 2007-08 on Friday, October 19, versus the Binghamton Senators.
