
Admirals look to finish year strong

OVERALL...The Admirals (18-9-2-1) enter this week's action in second place in the AHL's West Division, one-point behind the Chicago Wolves (18-9-3-1) and one point ahead of the Grand Rapids Griffins (18-11-1-1). The Ads are in the midst of a three-game losing streak and are 2-6 in their last eight games. The last time the Ads lost three consecutive games was December 11 through 14, 2003. On home ice, the Admirals have lost two straight and are 1-4 in the last five home games.
THIS WEEK'S ACTION...
@HOUSTON...The Aeros won the only 2004-05 meeting between the teams, 5-2 at the Bradley Center on November 13th. The Ads are 12-4-1-1 in the last 18 played in Houston, including 5-0 during 2003-04.
VS. HAMILTON...The Admirals are 2-4-1-1 in eight lifetime meetings vs. the Bulldogs, including 1-2-1-0 at the Bradley Center. Last year, Milwaukee was 1-2-0-1 overall and 1-1 on home ice.
ROAD WARRIORS...The Admirals under Claude Noel have amassed an impressive 77 of a possible 116 points (.663) in 58 games on foreign ice, including an 11-4-2-1 (.694) mark this season. The Ads finished the 2003-04 season with a better road winning percentage at .650 (23-11-3-3) than on home ice at .625 (23-13-4-0).
AFTER 30...The Ads are currently 18-9-2-1 (.650) compared to a 15-9-4-2 (.600) mark after 30 games last season. Milwaukee was 6-5-1 after 12 home games in 2003-04 compared to 7-5 this season. After 18 road games, last year's Admirals were 9-5-2-2 for 22 points (.611), while this season's Admirals have an 11-4-2-1 mark for 25 points.
TRANSACTIONS...The Admirals have added Terry Harrison, P.J. Martin and Bryan Lundbohm to the roster. Harrison, who has 20 points (7g-13a) in 26 games this season with the Rockford (UHL) IceHogs, has two assists and is +2 in seven games with the Admirals this season. Lundbohm has logged 205 regular season games with the Admirals over the past three seasons scoring 74 points (26g-48a). He was a member of the 2003-04 Calder Cup Champion Admirals, but didn't play in the playoffs due to injury. The University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux alum had 29 points (10g-19a) in 23 games with the Fort Worth (CHL) Brahmas this season. Martin, a 6'2", 200 pound defenseman was playing for the Toledo (ECHL) Storm scoring 10 points (3g-7a) in 24 games. Martin has an assist and four penalty minutes in two games with the Admirals this season. He has played in 10 AHL games over the past two seasons with Binghamton, Cleveland, Manchester and Springfield.
SUTER'S STATUS...Defenseman Ryan Suter has three assists and is +3 in the first two games of the IIHF World Junior Hockey Tournament. The United States is 2-0 with victories over Russia, 5-4, on Christmas Day and Switzerland, 6-4, on Monday Night. The U.S. team, which captured the gold medal in last year's Tournament, battles Belarus (0-2) on Wednesday night in Grand Forks. The tournament features the top under-20 talent from 10 nations runs through January 4, 2005. Suter, who is the captain of the U.S. squad, is skating in his third World Junior competition.
GOIN' STREAKIN'...Gamache has scored in six of his last seven games and has amassed 10 points (5g-5a) over that span. The 5'9", 185-pound left wing has accumulated 28 points (10g-18a) in his last 19 contests giving him 39 (16g-23a) on the season to lead the Admirals and rank fourth among in the AHL. He also ranks second in the AHL with 10 power play goals.
OFFENSIVE DEFENSEMEN...Andrew Hutchinson ranks third and Dan Hamhuis ranks ninth among the AHL's leading defensemen in scoring. Hutchinson ranks third among Admirals scorers with 23 points (5g-18a), including 16 points (3g-13a) over his last 19 games. Hamhuis has 10 points (3g-7a) over his last 11 outings and is tied for the AHL lead among defensemen with five power play goals.
NOT FIDDLING AROUND...Veteran center Vern Fiddler leads the Admirals in plus/minus with a +12 and is second among Admirals' goal scorers with 12. The 24 year old, Edmonton native has 20 points (10g-10a) over his last 19 games and ranks fourth among Milwaukee scorers with 22 points.
HEY-DER HAYDAR... Darren Haydar has 13 points (5g-8a) over his last 13 games and ranks fifth among Admirals scorers with 21 points (9g-12a). The 2002-03 AHL Rookie of the Year led the AHL in scoring during the 2003-04 Calder Cup playoffs with 26 points (11g-15a).
