Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Joffrey Lupul scored three goals to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to a 5-4 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins Tuesday at Van Andel Arena.
Alexei Smirnov and Stanislav Chistov also scored for the Ducks, who have won four straight games and six of their last eight.
Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 23 shots in the win for the Ducks, who extended their road winning streak to four games, matching their longest winning streak away from home since December 26-February 3 of the 2000-01 season.
Lupul's hat trick was the first by a Cincinnati player since he recorded his first career hat trick January 4, 2004 against San Antonio and was the first on the road for the club since November 2, 2001 when Jason Williams scored three times at Cleveland.
Eric Himelfarb had two goals for the Griffins, who lost their sixth straight game.
Drew MacIntyre surrendered three goals on six shots before being pulled in favor of Joey MacDonald 3:43 into the first period. MacDonald stopped 15 of the 17 shots he faced in 36:17 minutes and absorbed the loss.
The Ducks play Hamilton Wednesday at 7:35 p.m. at Cincinnati Gardens.
