GAME NOTES: The Rochester Americans (16-7-3-3, 38 points) will look to continue their strong play tonight as they host the Edmonton Road Runners (16-9-2-3, 37 points) in a battle at HSBC Arena. The contest will be broadcast live on WBER 90.5 FM and WGR 550-AM in Buffalo. The game will also be available via the Internet on www.amerks.com.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: This is the first game between the two clubs this season. Last season, the Amerks won the inaugural season series with the Road Runners with a 7-1-0 mark. Goaltender Ryan Miller went 6-0-1 with a 1.55 goals-against average.

AMERK NOTES: The Amerks are on a roll, going 7-1-0-2 in their last 10 games. The team is ranked ninth in the AHL on the power play with a 16.4% success rate (28 for 171). The team is eighth in the league penalty killing with an 87.2 percentage (123 for 141). Amerks forwards Derek Roy (7+22) is tied for 16th in the AHL among points leaders with 29. Rookie forward Thomas Vanek is currently second in the AHL among rookies with 22 points (14+8) and leads all rookies in goal scoring (14). Amerks captain Chris Taylor is now 10th on the team's all-time assist list with 191. Right Wing Sean McMorrow is now 11th on the team's all-time penalty minute list with 681 in his career.

SCOUTING THE ROAD RUNNERS: Edmonton is 7-3-2 on the road this season away from Rexall Place. Last night, the Road Runners lost on the road, 3-2, to the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Bulldogs scored three unanswered goals after the Road Runners had built a 2-0 lead on goals by Dan Baum and Mike Bishai. The team is third in the AHL killing penalties with an 89.5% (154 for 172) and 10th in goals-per game (2.90). Also, the team is eighth on defense, allowing 2.48 goals-per game. Forward Tony Salmelainen leads the team in scoring with 21 points (10+11). Goaltender Tyler Moss is ranked eighth among goaltenders with a 2.07 goals-against average. Former Amerk Rick Mrozik has nine points (3+6) this season on defense.

SABRES' BROADCAST TEAM TO COVER AMERKS TONIGHT: Rick Jeanneret and Jim Lorentz will handle the broadcasting duties for tonights Rochester Americans-Edmonton Road Runners American Hockey League game The game will be carried live in Buffalo on WGR 550-AM and delayed in Rochester at 9:00 p.m. on WHTK 1280-AM. The game marks the first time the Buffalo Sabres' broadcast team will work together this season because of the National Hockey League lockout. Jeanneret is currently the longest-tenured broadcaster in hockey, as the 2003-04 season marked his 33rd year with the Sabres. Lorentz moved to the broadcast booth after playing 10 seasons in the NHL with Boston, St. Louis, the New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres. In 1981, he began his career as a color commentator and has worked in his current role as television commentator since the 1992-93 season. In Rochester, Amerks' play-by-play man Don Stevens will bring the game back to the Flower City live on WBER 90.5-FM.

NEXT HOME GAME: The Amerks will travel to Albany to face the River Rats on Wednesday, December 29th at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WHTK-1280-AM. The Amerks will be back in Rochester on Friday, December 31st to ring in the New Year with the Albany River Rats at 7:35 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live on WHTK 1280-AM and via the Internet on www.amerks.com.
