RACING STRIPES PROMOTION ON WEDNESDAY
On Jan. 14, a new Warner Brothers animated movie, Racing Stripes will open, but fans can check out what the movie is all about at the Phantoms game on Wednesday against the Norfolk Admirals. The first 500 kids in attendance will get a Racing Stripes t-shirt, the Philadelphia Zoo will have a display on the concourse and there will be many other prize giveaways.
LOCAL OLYMPIC SWIMMER TO DROP OPENING PUCK ON WEDNESDAY
Haverford's Brendan Hansen, who won three medals at the recent 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the Phantoms-Norfolk Admirals game on Wednesday. Hansen won a gold medal in the 400-meter medley relay, a silver medal in the 100-meter breast stroke and a bronze medal in the 200-meter breast stroke. Hansen graduated from Haverford High School in 2000.
NEXT TELEVISED GAME ON WEDNESDAY
Comcast SportsNet will air its sixth of 10 Phantoms games this season when the Norfolk Admirals visit the Wachovia Spectrum on Wednesday. Flyers radio announcer Tim Saunders will handle the play-by-play duties, while Flyers color commentator Steve Coates will provide his insight into the game. Coverage for the game begins at 7:00 p.m. The next televised game will be on Friday, Jan. 7 against the Syracuse Crunch.
GRATTON ON "INSIDE THE PHANTOMS" TUESDAY
The next edition of "Inside the Phantoms" will be on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Hosted by David Unkle, the show features a player interview, news on the team and ticket giveaways every other Tuesday throughout the season on WNJC (1360 AM). This week's guest will be forward and team penalty minutes leader Josh Gratton.
MEYER ON "RUMBLE WITH THE PHANTOMS" THIS WEDNESDAY
Defenseman Freddy Meyer will be the guest on the Phantoms' weekly radio show, "Rumble with the Phantoms," this Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Hosted by Tom Shaw, the show features a player interview, news on the team and ticket giveaways every Wednesday on WNJC (1360 AM). In 21 games with the Phantoms this season, Meyer has four goals and six assists for 10 points and 20 penalty minutes.
PHANTOMS POSTGAME SHOWS THIS WEEK WITH COTE AND STEVENS Can't get enough Phantoms action? Then stick around for The Phantoms Postgame Show at Bullies Sports Bar & Restaurant. Hosted by David Unkle of the Topcat Sports Show on WNJC 1360-AM, the Phantoms Postgame Show lets you get up close and personal with your favorite Phantoms player following 24 games throughout the season. The next show will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 29 with forward Riley Cote, and head coach John Stevens will be the guest after Sunday's game. AHL ALL-STAR BALLOTING UNDER WAY
2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic Fan Balloting, presented by CCM, is under way exclusively on the official website of the AHL, www.theahl.com. Fans can vote in their favorite players to take part in the event, which will be held at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H., from Feb. 13-14. By voting, fans can enter for the grand prize of a game-worn autographed jersey from the contest.
TEAM BRACELETS FOR CHARITY ON SALE NOW
Comcast-Spectacor Charities is now selling special team-related silicone bracelets of the Phantoms, Flyers and 76ers.
