Admirals Doubled up by Checkers

NORFOLK, Va. - Philip-Michael Devos and Eric Neilson each netted power play goals, but the Norfolk Admirals (25-15-1-2) fell to the Charlotte Checkers (25-15-2-2), 4-2, on Tuesday night at Norfolk Scope Arena. The Admirals will host the Hershey Bears at Scope on Friday and Saturday nights to close out a three-game homestand.

Charlotte took a 2-0 lead after one period. Brett Sutter opened scoring at 7:19 before Drayson Bowman netted a power play goal at 13:29.

Norfolk closed the gap to 2-1 at 16:10 of the second period as Devos netted his third goal of the season.

However, the Checkers stretched their lead to three goals in the third period. Matthew Pistilli scored on the power play at 2:32 and Evgenii Dadanov netted an empty-net goal at 18:55.

Neilson closed out scoring at 19:50 with a power play goal, as the Admirals fell, 4-2.

Norfolk goaltender Jaroslav Janus (8-7-2) stopped 32 of 35 shots in defeat. Charlotte netminder John Muse (4-0-0) made 29 saves on 31 shots for the win.

Norfolk was 2-for-5 on the power play while Charlotte was 2-for-8.

The Admirals will host the Hershey Bears at Scope on Friday and Saturday nights to close out a three-game homestand. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The first 2,000 fans through the gates on Friday will receive an Olaf Kolzig Bobblehead courtesy of John's Tax Service and Fox43.
