HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club and the Bulldogs Foundation today accepted a significant donation to the "Skate the Dream" program equipment drive from The Messier Project and Cascade Sports, One Goal, and Source For Sports.

One Goal is donating 100 sets of hockey equipment to the Skate the Dream program, which is designed to help break the barriers that prevent local children in Hamilton, Ontario from learning to skate and to play hockey. The pilot project is based out of Eastwood Arena in Hamilton's north end and is an opportunity for 72 to 100 children between the ages of 6 to 10 to participate in a 10-week "Learn to Skate" combined with a 3-on-3 "Learn to Play Hockey" introductory program for only $10. Hamilton native and Stanley Cup champion Ric Nattress, the Honorary Chair of the program, is one of the on-ice instructors for "Skate the Dream".

Six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier also donated 15 M11 helmets to "Skate the Dream" through his The Messier Project initiative, a collaboration between the hockey icon and the head protection experts at Cascade Sports that began in 2009. The M11 has revolutionized head protection and today more than 650 hockey teams and associations across North America wear and trust the helmet.

In addition, Source for Sports is raffling off four autographed Messier jerseys donated by Reebok Hockey at their annual hockey buying show, which is currently taking place at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Funds raised from the Messier jersey raffle during the Source For Sports Hockey Buying Show will be given to One Goal to support their initiative.

The Hamilton Bulldogs are at Quicken Loans Arena TONIGHT, Tuesday, January 24th, 2012, to take on the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 pm.
