Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat and Chicago Wolves (Vancouver Canucks) open a two-game set at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre tonight. Games against the Vancouver affiliate have traditionally drawn the largest crowds of the season in Abbotsford as fans from across the lower mainland and the Fraser Valley watch the Heat take on future Canucks.

This season marks the first of a two-year affiliation between the Chicago Wolves and the Vancouver Canucks after a decade long relationship with the Manitoba Moose from 2001 through 2011. The Moose and Heat were fierce rivals over the past two seasons as the lone Western Canadian teams in the AHL.

Paul Byron holds the hot hand for the hosts, as he chalked up three assists in his first game played with the Heat since spending a month in Calgary with the Flames. Byron's three points matched a career-high, and is his first three-point game with the Heat after completing the feat five times with the Portland Pirates.

Abbotsford is six points back of the Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Barons, but hold a game-in-hand on their divisional rivals. The Wolves sit in a tie for second spot in the Midwest Division with 46 points in 41 games, while the Heat are in third spot in the West division with 53 points in 42 games.

Tonight's first of two games in two days starts at 7:00 PM with the pre-game show starting at 6:30 on Country 107.1 FM in the Fraser Valley, on the Team 1410 in Vancouver, and online at theAHL.com. This evening's game will also be televised on Shaw from Hope to Whistler in BC and across Southern Alberta.
