
Admirals Sign Forward Michael Pelech to Tryout Contract

NORFOLK - The Norfolk Admirals have signed center Michael Pelech ("PEH-lihk") to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO), General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Pelech, 6-foot-3, 206-pounds, joins the Admirals from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. In 22 games with the Cyclones this season, he has posted eight goals and 26 points with 31 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating. Pelech leads the Cyclones in assists, ranks third in points, fifth in goals, fifth in penalty minutes and fourth in plus/minus. He also skated in ten games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye earlier in the season, posting five assists. Pelech has skated in 167 career ECHL games between Cincinnati, Toledo and the Ontario Reign, posting 28 goals and 94 points with 302 penalty minutes.
Last season, Pelech made his American Hockey League debut by playing in five games with the Manchester Monarchs. He posted six penalty minutes and an even plus/minus rating in those games.
The Los Angeles Kings drafted Pelech in the sixth round (156th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to turning professional in 2009-10, Pelech skated in 249 career junior games between the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors and Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League, posting 51 goals and 170 points with 279 penalty minutes.
The Admirals return to Scope tonight as they drop the puck on a three-game homestand, beginning with a matchup against the Charlotte Checkers in the fifth game of the GEICO Challenge Cup. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. in another Admirals Value Night.
