Canadiens Recall Andreas Engqvist from Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QC - The Montreal Canadiens announced tonight that forward Andreas Engqvist has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs. Engqvist participated in tonight's game against the Lake Erie Monsters.

Engqvist has played 27 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs this season, scoring 13 goals and adding 10 assists for a total of 23 points. The six-foot-one, 201-pound centre has a team-leading +9 plus/minus rating, registering 63 shots on goal. Five of his goals were scored on the power play.

The Stockholm, Sweden native was previously recalled to the Montreal Canadiens on November 14th, 2011 and returned to the Bulldogs on December 5th, 2011. In eight games with the Canadiens this season, Engqvist, 24, maintained a +1 plus/minus differential and recorded four blocked shots and five hits, while averaging 6:24 of ice time per game. Engqvist signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on July 13, 2009.

The Bulldogs return home to Copps Coliseum Friday, January 27th, 2012 to take on the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 p.m. before returning to Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday, January 28th, 2012 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Lake Erie Monsters.
