Adam Selected to the AHL All-Rookie Team

Springfield, MA - Portland Pirates forward Luke Adam was one of six played announced today by the American Hockey League as members of the 2010-11 AHL All-Rookie Team, as voted by AHL coaches, players and media in each of the league's 30 member cities.

Adam has been a fixture near the top of the AHL's rookie scoring list all season, ranking first in goals (25), tied for fourth in assists (29) and second in points (54) in 49 games for Portland. The 20-year-old Newfoundland native also ranks second amongst AHL rookies with a plus/minus rating of plus-22. A second-round draft pick (44th overall) by Buffalo in 2008, Adam has played in 19 games for the Sabres while earning four points on three goals and an assist. The 2011 AHL All-Star earned his first career NHL point on an assist against Toronto on November 26, 2010 and first career NHL goal at the Boston Bruins on December 7, 2010.

Other players named to the AHL All-Rookie Team include Manitoba goaltender Eddie Lack, Adirondack defenseman Erik Gustafsson, Grand Rapids defenseman Brendan Smith, Charlotte forward Zac Dalpe, and Bridgeport forward Rhett Rakhshani.

After Wednesday's game, the Pirates will hit the road for three games beginning on Saturday, April 2nd at 7 p.m. when they take on the Manchester Monarchs. The next night (Sunday, April 3), Portland will be in Hartford, CT playing the Connecticut Whale in a 3 p.m. faceoff. Portland's three-game road trip will conclude in Worcester on Tuesday (April 5) for a 7 p.m. game.
