Adam Plutko Stamps Name in Record Books with No-No

June 2, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Columbus Clippers News Release

The Columbus Clippers were firing on all cylinders tonight against the Syracuse Chiefs at NBT Bank Stadium.

They used 14 hits and a no-hitter from Adam Plutko defeat the Chiefs 6-0.

Plutko previously took a perfect game into the eighth inning before being pulled back on April 28. He was not pulled today. In his nine perfect frames, he struck out eight Syracuse batters.

This marks the second Clippers no-hitter in as many weeks, as Shane Bieber tossed a rain-shortened, seven-inning no-no on May 25 against the Gwinnett Stripers.

The Clippers took the lead in the third inning on an Eric Stamets RBI single, one of four consecutive Clippers singles, which was followed by a Brandon Barnes two-run double to make it 3-0.

They added another in the top of the fourth when Nellie Rodriguez ripped his own RBI single, extending the Columbus lead to 4-0.

Francsico Mejia followed suit in the fifth, as he mirrored Rodriguez with another RBI single, making it 5-0.

In the ninth, Yu Chang did the exact same thing, dunking in a RBI single to add to the Clippers lead at 6-0.

All the while, Adam Plutko had tossed a perfect game into the ninth, but walked one man to lose it with one out. He shut down the Chiefs after that, guiding the Clippers to the 6-0 victory with his no-hitter.

The Chiefs and Clippers will play the rubber-match of their series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium.
