Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Kevin Kramer blasted a three-run homer to cap a five-run opening frame and Clay Holmes fired seven shutout innings as the Indianapolis Indians snapped a six-game losing streak with a 7-0 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday night at Victory Field.

The Indians (26-27) won for the first time in a week thanks to a career-high tying four RBI by Kramer and Holmes' sparkling start.

Facing southpaw Justus Sheffield - another top prospect in the Yankees' farm system - the Indians wasted little time in snapping their 21-inning scoring drought. Kevin Newman doubled into the right-field corner ahead of a Max Moroff walk. Sheffield retired

The Tribe gets another chance to right the ship in the series' second game Saturday night. Clay Holmes (2-3, 5.05) will toe the rubber for Indy and will square off with Justus Sheffield (0-1, 1.65). The RailRider southpaw is considered the Yankees' best pitching prospect by Baseball America.
