Knights Drop Game Two to Bisons 9-2 Saturday

(BUFFALO, NY) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game two of their three-game series against the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 9-2 from Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Knights have won six of their last nine games.

The Bisons jumped out to a quick lead in the game and scored seven of their nine runs off Charlotte RHP Michael Kopech (2-3, 4.89), who was saddled with the loss. Kopech, who is ranked as the top pitching prospect in the Chicago White Sox system, allowed seven runs on five hits over two innings. He walked four batters and struck-out two.

Buffalo scored three runs in the first inning, and added four more in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead early in game two.

The Knights scored their first run of the game in the seventh inning when first baseman Casey Gillaspie launched a solo home run off former Charlotte reliever Al Alburquerque. The Knights tacked on one more run in the eighth inning when center fielder Jacob May scored on a groundout by left fielder Alex Presley. May went 1-for-4 on the night to extend his hit streak to seven consecutive games.

LHP Ryan Borucki (5-5, 3.14) earned the win for the Bisons. He tossed six shutout innings and allowed just four hits.

The Knights will conclude their six-game road trip and play the finale of their three-game series against the Buffalo Bisons from Buffalo, NY on Sunday afternoon. LHP Carlos RodÏŒn is expected to start the finale of the series on major league rehab from Chicago.
