Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- Josh Collmenter gave Reno a solid start and Brandon Allen crushed his team-leading 21st home run of the season on Sunday, as the Aces cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Memphis Redbirds at Aces Ballpark.
The win is Reno's season-best fifth-straight. The Aces have now won seven of eight and nine of their last 12 games.
The Aces scored six times between the third and fifth innings on Monday, and that was plenty of cushion for Collmenter (4-3), who leads all Arizona minor leaguers with 12 overall victories. Collmenter worked 6.0 innings, scattering two runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Kasey Olenberger, TJ Beam and Jose Marte each worked a spotless frame to preserve the victory.
The loss fell to Memphis starter Brandon Dickson (9-8), who surrendered six runs-five earned-on 11 hits over five innings of work. Dickson walked three and punched out five.
At the plate for Reno, Chris Rahl backed-up a four-hit night on Saturday with three more hits on Sunday-hitting safely in seven-straight at-bats. Jeff Bailey finished with three hits and two RBIs, and Allen wrapped up the scoring with a monster solo home run in the eighth inning.
Sunday's game was delayed 19 minutes due to rain in the area.
The Aces and Redbirds hook-up again on Monday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Cesar Valdez (4-7, 4.95 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while Memphis counters with RHP Lance Lynn (9-8, 5.34 ERA). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. PT.
Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
