Game Recap: Scott Cousins picked up four hits and three RBI as the Zephyrs hold on and win a slugfest 11-10 in Colorado Springs. The Zephyrs jumped out to a 8-0 lead in the game. The Sky Sox battled back scoring five in the fifth inning. Z's starter Nic Ungs pitched 4.2 innings and did not qualify for the win. He worked four scoreless before being touched up in the 5th inning. The Z's scored the eventual game winning run in the ninth inning on a bad throw from the catcher to the pitcher that scored Cousins. The Sox had five errors in the game. Z's reliever Brett Sinkbeil earned the win in relief and Scott Strickland earned his 13th save.
Game Notes: The Z's added outfielder Bryan Petersen from Florida and Todd Doolittle was reassigned to Double A Jacksonville. The Zephyrs are now 3-14 in the Mountain time zone over the past two seasons. New Orleans is 4 games back of Oklahoma City with 29 games to play..
Coming up - The Zephyrs travel to Salt Lake City and begin a four game series against the Bees at 5PM. The Z's will start RH Adalberto Mendez (4-3, 3.93) against RH Ryan Vogelsong (0-1,1.93). RADIO: WMTI 106.1 FM
