Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Tonight's Match-up

The Aberdeen IronBirds look to get back in the win column tonight against the Vermont Lake Monsters (Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the Oakland A's). The IronBirds dropped the first game in Vermont by a final score of 4-3. Aberdeen put the tying run at third in the eighth and ninth innings but was unable to push him across. Today, the IronBirds will have the right-hander Mike Wright on the hill. Wright was the Orioles' third-round pick in this year's draft. He'll go up against fellow right-handed pitcher J.C. Menna.

Rehab Report

Minor league rehabbers Matt Hobgood and Ryan Berry both pitched in last night's loss to the Lake Monsters. Hobgood, the former first-round pick of the Orioles, surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits in four innings of work. He walked one and struck out two. Berry allowed a run on five hits in three innings of work and took the loss.

Davis Continues to Hit

Outfielder Glynn Davis extended his hitting streak to seven games in Saturday night's loss at Vermont. The streak is the longest by an IronBirds hitter this season. Davis, who normally hits leadoff for Aberdeen, is also leading the team in stolen bases with seven (he's been caught just one time).

Tightly Contested Games

Every game so far between the Lake Monsters and the IronBirds has been close. Two of the games have been decided by just one run. Two went into extra innings. Through four games, each team has won twice. These two clubs will meet six straight times. Following tomorrow night's game at Vermont, they will not play again this season.

Sunday Not-So-Fun Day

The IronBirds are looking for their first win on Sunday this season. They are currently 0-4 on Sundays. They've lost twice at home and twice on the road.

Back to the Mack

Following this series with Vermont, the IronBirds will go back to playing a McNamara Division foe as the Brooklyn Cyclones come to Ripken Stadium. The IronBirds will play two at home against the Cyclones, then go to Coney Island for two more. Aberdeen is just 2-18 against teams in the McNamara Division.
