July 17, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters improved to 16-14 on the season after hanging on for a 3-2 victory on the road over the State College Spikes on Sunday night.

The Spikes used two hits and a wild pitch by Cutters starter Austin Wright to take a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Williamsport tied it in the top of the fourth on a two-out RBI triple by Bob Stumpo.

The visitors took the lead in the top of the fifth, as Kyrell Hudson walked, stole second, advanced to third on a flyout, and scored on a two-out RBI single by Maikel Franco. Patrick Murray followed with an RBI double to right-center to put the Cutters ahead 3-1.

State College picked up a run in the bottom of the sixth, as another wild pitch by Wright allowed a run to make it 3-2.

That score would be the resulting final, as Williamsport relievers Matt Campbell and Juary Gomez combined to pitch three shutout innings to seal the win for the visiting team.

These two clubs will continue the SawBuck Series tomorrow in State College at 7:05pm. Every Cutters matchup can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
