Jamestown Jammers News Release

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game, but it wasn't enough as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th to beat the Jammers, 6-5, Sunday night at Diethrick Park.

Jobduan Morales stayed white hot with two more hits including a double and three walks for the Jammers. Austin Barnes also chipped in two hits with three walks, while Terrence Dayleg connected for three hits with a double.

Neither team would surrender a run until Mahoning Valley broke through with three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Alex Lavisky belted a solo homer with one out in the fifth inning then Aaron Siliga roped a RBI double and John Barr hit a sacrifice fly to right to account for the scoring.

Jamestown responded with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. After two outs were recorded, Austin Barnes walked and Terrence Dayleg had a single to put runners at first and second. Jobduan Morales and Josh Adams proceeded to have back-to-back RBI singles; however, the two were stranded when the next batter popped out.

The score would stay that way until the top of the ninth inning with neither team threatening to score. With two on and two out, Henry Dunn and John Barr had consecutive infield singles to make it 5-2 and all but end Jamestown's chances.

However, two-out lightning would strike for a second time in the ninth inning for the Jammers. Rony Peralta had a RBI single to start the scoring and plate Ryan Goetz from second. Barnes walked before Dayleg hit a bloop double to score both runners and tie the game.

Each team would have an opportunity in the tenth, but lightning did not strike for either squad until the eleventh. The Scrappers loaded the bases on a pair of singles and an intentional walk then Tony Hankins hit a sacrifice fly to left to score the winning run.

Morales would walk with two outs in the bottom of the frame, but he was left stranded at first to end the game.

The loss drops the Jammers back in to a first-place tie with the Scrappers at 17-13 as well as the Batavia Muckdogs, who also won Sunday night.

Jordan Smith had three hits with two doubles to lead the Scrappers. Cody Elliott also had two hits with three runs scored, and Barr contributed two hits and two RBI. On the mound, Enosil Tejada earned the win, and Nate Striz got the save.

The two teams will wrap up the series Monday at 7:05 p.m.
