A.J. Gass earns CFL Defensive Player of the Week honours
September 14, 2004 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) Now that the dust has settled on the Eskimos 44-12 pounding of the Calgary Stampeders, linebacker A.J. Gass has been named CFL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 13.
Gass recorded six defensive tackles and added two more on special teams in the victory over Calgary last Friday. He also hauled in Calgary's attempt at an on-side kick late in the game and almost broke it for a touchdown. It was an outstanding week for the veteran linebacker who chipped in eight defensive tackles, one special teams tackle and one pass knockdown during the Labour Day Classic four days earlier. This is Gass' second career Defensive Player of the Week honour, with the previous award coming in 2002, also in Week 13.
The Eskimos visit the BC Lions on Saturday, September 18th. The next home game for the Edmonton Eskimos is on Saturday, September 25th at 7:30 p.m. versus the Toronto Argonauts. Purchase your tickets online at www.ticketmaster.ca. To order by phone, call Ticketmaster at 451-8000.
