Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades announced the signing of free agent kicker and punter Brian Holmes to a practice roster agreement Tuesday.
Holmes, 26, will work with the Renegades special teams unit and brings college and professional experience to the club. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Georgia played the full 2001 season and part of 2002 with the Birmingham Steeldogs of the Arena Football League Two. Later on in 2002, he was waived by the NFL's Atlanta Falcons in training camp and was signed and released by the Tennessee Titans in 2003.
Holmes was at B.C. Lions training camp earlier this season.
A product of the Samford University Bulldogs program, Holmes handled both punting and placekicking duties. In 1998, he averaged 42 yards per punt.
The Renegades are in action Friday night at 9 p.m. Eastern time when they visit the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. Coverage is available on TSN and on the Renegades' flagship radio station, Team 1200 (AM 1200).
