September 14, 2004 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive end Tom Canada is having an outstanding rookie season in the CFL.

Canada – who is presently 2nd in CFL quarterback sacks with seven – had an impressive performance against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Winnipeg Sunday, totaling six defensive tackles and applying pressure on Rider quarterback Henry Burris all day long. The CFL has acknowledged Canada's accomplishments by naming him its Player of the Week in the lineman category.

Canada was one of the few Blue Bombers to repeatedly take down Rider runningback Corey Holmes, who had an impressive outing with 107 yards on 17 carries in the 1st Annual Banjo Bowl at Canad Inns Stadium.

The CFL Player of the Week Award is the 1st of Canada's career. Canada and his teammates take on the star-laden Toronto Argonauts this Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Canad Inns Stadium.
