Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's got back to their winning ways on Friday, when they beat the Hamilton Bulldogs by a score of 5-3 in their second game in as many days.
Noel Hoefenmayer, Graeme Clarke, Lucas Chiodo, Marco Rossi and Sasha Chmelevski all scored for the Barber Poles in the win.
The Bulldogs struck early in the game when Arthur Kaliyev opened the scoring just over five minutes into the first period. Jan Jenik added another goal to his teams' tally, giving the hosts a two goal advantage, but Ottawa would rally back and score three goals before the end of the period, coming from the sticks of Hoefenmayer, Clarke and Chiodo.
Kaliyev would put up the lone goal of the second period with his second of the game, his 49th this season.
Both teams would go back and forth in the third period, exchanging scoring chances, but a nice tic-tac-toe play finished by Marco Rossi in the dying minutes of the game would go on to be the winner. Chmelevski took advantage of an open cage to seal the deal when the Bulldogs pulled their goalie in favor of a sixth skater.
This hard-fought win broke a two game losing skid for the 67's, who will be back on home ice Sunday afternoon at home against the Mississauga Steelheads at The Arena at TD Place at 2 p.m. Mikey DiPietro made 24 saves on the night and the Barber Poles went two for five on the man advantage in the winning effort.
