Runners and walkers are welcome for the "Legends Legacy Loop for LexArts 5K" Saturday May 28 at 9 a.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The event is presented by the Lexington Legends and Whitaker Insurance Group. A $25 registration fee covers bib number, t-shirt, electronic timing and results courtesy of John's Run/Walk Shop, a ticket to that night's Lexington Legends game and five-dollar donations to the Legacy Trail and LexArts. Registration on the day of the event will be permitted.
The Legacy Trail is a 12-mile walking and biking trail and public art venue that begins in the east end of downtown Lexington at the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden and runs to the Kentucky Horse Park. LexArts is greater Lexington's premier cultural development, advocacy and fund raising organization.
"We are excited to partner with Whitaker Insurance Group for this event, which is in its first year," said Legends Director of Community Relations Stephanie Fish. "We hope this 5K will raise awareness for LexArts and the Legacy Trail, and we know it will be fun for the participants. We'll have a unique finish line - it's on the field at home plate."
