LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will return to Cashman Field for the final nine home games of the '07 season from August 22-30.

The Las Vegas organization, celebrating its "25th PCL Season," will proudly fly the American Flag from the men and women of the 432nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (432AMXS). The American Flag will fly from the center field "flag pole" at Cashman Field on the games of Friday-Saturday, August 24-25. The 51s will host the Tucson Sidewinders at 7:11 p.m.

The symbol of the United States freedom was flown in honor aboard an MQ-1B Predator in combat missions over the skies of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The American Flag was flown on The 46th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron (Balad SE Air Force Base, Iraq) on a combat mission over the skies of Iraq on June 1, 2007 in support of "Operation Iraqi Freedom: To aid in maintaining stability and the reconstruction of Iraq as the U.S. prosecutes the war on terrorism."

The same American Flag was then flown on The 62nd Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron (undisclosed location, Afghanistan) mission over the skies of Afghanistan on June 22, 2007. The mission was in support of "Operation Iraqi Freedom: In finding and destroying all those who threaten our very way of life."

TSGT Gilberto Carrera, USAF 432 AMSX Production Superintendent contacted the 51s organization regarding the possibility of flying the flag at Cashman Field. He informed the front office that there are 51s fans in the Predator community that routinely attends games when in Las Vegas with friends and family. The ability to watch or hear baseball games on Armed Forces Radio (AFN) is "one of the most welcomed pleasures," Carrera added.

David Georgette is currently in Iraq and was responsible for this flag being flown in a combat sortie aboard one of the Predators. SSGT Gerardo Navarro is currently in Afghanistan and coordinated the same flag also flown in a combat sortie aboard one of the Predators. Georgette and Navarro are 51s fans and also attend games at Cashman Field when deployed.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field Box Office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com).
