Sky Sox Rally To Beat Sidewinders 4-3

Tucson, Ariz. - The Colorado Sky Sox defeated the Sidewinders 4-3 after trailing by three runs going into the seventh inning Sunday night at Tucson Electric Park.

The Sky Sox scored their first run of the game in the top of the seventh off of reliever D.J. Carrasco. Jolbert Cabrera led off the inning with a double high off the wall in center field. Douglas Bernier followed with a walk then was put out when Alvin Colina grounded into a double play. Cabrera who moved to third on the double play scored when D.J. Carrasco threw a wild pitch, to make the score 3-1.

Randy Choate allowed a run in his third consecutive outing, when Colorado scored another run in the top of the eighth when Clint Barmes doubled in Quintanilla to make the score 3-2.

Colorado completed their comeback in the top of the ninth when Bernier led the inning off with a walk. After a Colina line out, Lino Garcia walked to put runners on first and second. Joe Koshansky hit a pinch-hit single to Carlos Quentin to tie the score at 3-3. Garcia who moved to third on the previous single scored on a Quintanilla ground out to give the Sky Sox the lead 4-3.

The Sidewinders got on the board early when Quentin reached after getting hit in the head by a Marc Kaiser pitch. Chris Carter followed with a walk, and Jamie D'Antona singled on a ground ball that rolled just past Colorado Springs' shortstop Omar Quintanilla's glove to score Quentin.

The Sidewinders struck again when Rich Thompson leadoff with a single to start the bottom of the fifth. Thompson moved over to third on a wild pickoff attempt by Kaiser. Two batters later Quentin ground out to third that allowed Thompson to score. The Sidewinders added another run when Carter, D'Antona and Matt Erickson hit back-to-back-back singles with two outs, to make the score 3-0.

Eveland pitched five scoreless innings for the Sidewinders in his first start since returning from the Visalia Oaks. Eveland allowed three hits, a walk and struck out a batter.
