Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
It turns out the only thing that could cool the sizzling Albuquerque Isotopes was mother nature, as the âTopes' game against the Omaha Royals was postponed due to the imminent threat of rain Monday night at Rosenblatt Stadium. The two teams will play a doubleheader Tuesday morning with the first game beginning at 9:30 AM MT.
About 10 minutes prior to the scheduled first pitch, a severe storm started bearing down on Rosenblatt Stadium, forcing the grounds crew to unfurl the tarp in preparation for a major storm. When the radar revealed a massive storm cell that had the potential to produce some tornadic activity, the decision was made to postpone the game and play two seven-inning contests on Tuesday.
In game one, right-hander Kenny Baugh (6-7, 7.08) will take the mound for Albuquerque facing rehabbing Major League righty Brandon Duckworth (0-1, 22.50). Game two will start 30 minutes after the first contest and will feature âTopes right-hander Wes Obermueller (2-1, 3.35) getting the start against righy John Thomson (0-0, No ERA), who is also making a rehab start on loan from the Kansas City Royals.
All the action can be caught on 1150 KTBL-AM with pregame starting at 9:15 AM.
Following the doubleheader with Omaha, the first-place Isotopes will hop on a plane and return home for a five-game set against the Memphis Redbirds beginning on Wednesday, August 22. On tap for the homestand are fireworks, a Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend Pink Jersey Auction, and several giveaways. Tickets can be purchased at Isotopes Park or any Ticketmaster outlet, www.ticketmaster.com, or Ticketmaster by phone 505-883-7800.
