MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have released goaltender Josh Johnson from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Johnson, 26, served as the back-up goaltender for the Monarchs in Friday's 4-0 loss to the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center. He has played for three ECHL teams this season - the Gwinnett Gladiators, the Bakersfield Condors and, most recently, the Reading Royals. In a total of nine games with the three clubs, the 6-foot, 170-pound native of Esko, Minnesota has a record of 5-3-0 with a 3.76 goals-against-average and a.887 save percentage. Over the last three seasons (2007-2010), Johnson has played in 76 ECHL games with the Gladiators, Condors, Royals and the South Carolina Stingrays. Since turning pro in 2007, he has registered a 42-28-2 record, a 3.07 goals-against-average and a.899 save percentage.

A 2007 graduate from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Johnson has a collegiate record of 22-20-4 with a 2.71 goals-against-average and a.905 save percentage with the Bulldogs. He will wear No. 1 with the Monarchs.
