SAN ANTONIO (March 17, 2010) - Trailing with 3 minutes remaining in regulation, Daryl Boyle scored to force overtime and Julian Talbot notched the game-winner 1:35 into sudden death to give the Peoria Rivermen a 6-5 win over the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday at the AT&T Center. The Rivermen only trailed for 9:11 in the game and held leads three different times before getting the game-winner.

The win moved the Rivermen within five points of the Milwaukee Admirals for the fourth and final playoff spot. Peoria is 3-2-1 on their current road trip that will conclude on Friday in Rockford.

Adam Cracknell scored two power-play goals and Lars Eller collected three assists to take the team lead in points with 49. The Rivermen survived a four-point night (two goals, two assists) for Alexandre Picard and three from David Schlemko (goal, two assists).

Peoria fell behind just 1:55 into the opening period on Schlemko's fifth of the year. His wrist shot sailed past Ben Bishop who was starting for the first time in four games. He finished with 29 saves and his 19th win of the year.

Tyson Strachan tied the game on a one-timer at 8:10 of the first. His third of the year came off a feed from Nate Guenin along the blueline and ripped past Josh Tordjman to tie the game. The Rivermen power play came to life and put Peoria on top with their first chance at 13:57. Eller weaved his way into the offensive zone and then fed a pass across the crease for Barry Tallackson to knock in for his 18th of the year.

The Rampage power play answered with 31 seconds left in the first to even the score at 2-2. Sean Sullivan blasted a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle and both teams finished the first period 1-for-1 on the man advantage.

The trend continued in the second as all three goals scored came on the power play and ended with the Rivermen leading 4-3. Cracknell scored at 7:07 off a deflection and again at 18:41 after he finished off a feed from Pascal Pelletier. It was his second two-goal game of the season and first since he did it in San Antonio on Nov. 20. Picard scored his first of two at 8:01 to tie the score at 3-3.

San Antonio started off the third with a game-tying power-play goal at 6:18. Brett MacLean muscled in his team-leading 27th of the season through traffic in the slot with Picard earning an assist on the play. MacLean returned the favor, even-strength, at 14:30 setting up Picard to put the Rampage in front. A turnover left the two walking in along on Bishop and one pass later the Rampage had their first lead since the first period.

Boyle's first goal as a Rivermen tied the game with only 2:36 remaining in the regulation. Tordjman made the save on Boyle's shot from the right point but the rebound caromed off the back of a Rampage defenseman and into the net.

The Rivermen had to fight to get to overtime after Pelletier was whistled for tripping with 1:58 remaining. Just their third successful kill of the night forced the 5 minute sudden death. It only took 1:35 of it for Talbot to end the game. As he walked the puck down the wall he turned and cut into the circle before he released a hard wrist shot past Tordjamn for his 16th of the year. It was his third game winner of the season and first on overtime.

Peoria is now 4-2 in overtime this season and 10-8 overall when the game goes past regulation. Both teams finished 3-for-6 on the power play as the Rivermen outshot San Antonio 44-34 in the game.

The Rivermen travel to Rockford on Friday to end their longest road trip of the season. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. and all games can be heard on Hippie 101.1 FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
