
Bulldogs Come Back To Win 6-5 In A Shootout

Glens Falls, NY - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Adirondack Phantoms 6-5 in a shootout on Wednesday night. After being down 5-2, the âDogs scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of the third period to tie the game 5-5 before Ryan White scored in the seventh round of the shootout to win the game.
The Phantoms opened the scoring 1:13 into the game. Jon Matsumoto received the puck from Kevin Marshall before giving the puck to Denis Bodrov, who fired a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.
The Bulldogs tied the game at 9:03 of the first frame. White sent the puck to Yannick Weber, who was positioned at the right point. Weber blasted a slapshot that sailed through traffic and past Adirondack starting goaltender Michael-Lee Teslak.
The Phantoms regained a one-goal lead at 14:33 of the first period. Joonas Lehtivuori received the puck from Garrett Klotz while stationed at the point. Klotz slid the puck to Matsumoto, who was in the slot. Matsumoto released a shot that beat Desjardins over the glove.
Adirondack took a 3-1 lead 30 seconds into the middle frame. Andreas Nodl fed the puck to the front of the net which created a scrum. Jared Ross whacked the loose puck through the legs of Desjardins and into the back of the net.
Following this goal, Curtis Sanford replaced Cedrick Desjardins in the Bulldogs net.
Mike Pyorala gave the Phantoms a 4-1 lead at 12:40 of the second stanza. Marc-Andre Bourdon dished the puck across the ice to Pyorala, who one-timed a shot past Sanford and into the back of the net.
P.K. Subban cut Adirondack's lead in half at 6:07 of the final frame. Aaron Palushaj sent the puck to Subban, who carried the puck into the Phantoms' zone. Subban spun around at the top of the right faceoff circle before skating into the slot and rifling a shot that beat Teslak.
Matsumoto scored his second goal of the game at 8:19 of the third stanza while on the power play. Bodrov received the puck from Stefan Legein before sending a pass to Matsumoto, who was alone at the right side of the net. Matsumoto tapped the pass behind Sanford and into the net.
The âDogs scored their third goal of the game at 10:14 of the final period. Weber received the puck from David Desharnais while positioned at the right point. Weber blasted a shot towards the net that was redirected by Brock Trotter. The puck trickled through the pads of Teslak and across the goal line. Subban scored his second goal of the game at 14:58. Desharnais won a faceoff, sending the puck back to Subban, who hammered a shot from the blue line. The puck sailed through traffic and past Teslak. The Bulldogs tied the game 5-5 at 17:05. Palushaj received a pass from Subban before skating into the Adirondack zone. Palushaj released a shot from the right faceoff dot that beat Teslak over his glove.
The teams went into overtime but neither could score which sent the game to a shootout. The shootout went into the seventh round where White earned the win for the âDogs with a goal. Curtis Sanford stopped five of seven shooters while Subban and Trotter also scored for Hamilton.
