River Rats Sign Goaltender Van Buskirk To PTO

ALBANY, NY-The Albany River Rats announced today that the American Hockey League club has signed goaltender Parker Van Buskirk to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO). Van Buskirk will be available for Albany's game 7:00 p.m. tonight against the Worcester Sharks at the Times Union Center.

Van Buskirk, 21, was acquired by the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League from the South Carolina Sting Rays on March 9, 2010 in exchange for forward Chris Capraro. The Windsor, Ontario native began his rookie season with the Utah Grizzlies and posted a 5-8-1 record with a 3.39 GAA and a 0.881 save percentage, before being traded to South Carolina for future considerations. He made seven appearances with the Stingrays and registered a 1-3-2 record with a 3.84 GAA and a 0.874 save percentage. Van Buskirk (6'0", 200 lbs.) has yet to see any ice-time with the Everblades. He played four full seasons of Junior hockey in the OHL, posting a 64-61-13 record with a 3.50 GAA and a 0.896 save percentage in 152 games split between Sarnia, Saginaw, Belleville and Kitchener. The undrafted goalie made his professional debut on March 18, 2009, playing in two games with the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL).
