2021 MLS SuperDraft Takes Place Today

January 21, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - San Jose Earthquakes News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will be participating in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas today, Thursday, Jan. 21, beginning at 11:00 a.m. PT. The Quakes currently hold three total picks (12, 39 and 66) in the three-round event.

The first round of the virtual player selection event will stream live on, the MLS App, Facebook, Twitter , and YouTube. In addition, fans can follow every pick as it happens with's MLS SuperDraft tracker.

A total of 174 players are eligible for selection , including two from UC Davis and one apiece from California, Cal Poly, Santa Clara, Stanford, and St. Mary's. The majority of draft prospects are NCAA college seniors who have exhausted their college eligibility. Generation adidas players and non-collegiate international players are also eligible for selection in the SuperDraft.

San Jose currently has seven players on its roster that the team originally acquired in the MLS SuperDraft: Chris Wondolowski (2005), Shea Salinas (2008), Jackson Yueill (2017), Paul Marie (2018), Siad Haji (2019), Tanner Beason (2020) and Jack Skahan (2020).
