Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - On Monday, former ValleyCats RHP Chia-Jen Lo was promoted from Double-A Corpus Christi to the Astros. In doing so, he became the 27th player to make the major leagues after playing for Tri-City.

Lo appeared in six games as a reliever for the 'Cats this season as part of a rehab stint. The Taiwanese hurler registered a 4.50 ERA with four saves. In six innings, he struck out twelve hitters, and held opposing hitters to a .217 average before being promoted to Class-A Quad Cities on June 29th.

Signed by the Astros organization on November 7th, 2008, Lo had reached Double-A by 2009. The next few years saw his career briefly stalled due to a variety of arm injuries. At the time of his call-up, Lo had a 3.52 ERA in eight games for Corpus Christi, tallying six strikeouts in 7.2 IP.

Lo is the 14th former 'Cats pitcher to reach the MLB. The 27-year old will be in Baltimore on Tuesday as the Astros kick off a three-game series against the Orioles.

"JOE TO THE SHOW" UPDATE:

Atlanta Braves third baseman, Chris Johnson leads the National Lead in batting at .339. Johnson played with the ValleyCats in 2006.
