Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets took both games of the season's 2nd week of play to finish with a 3-1-1 record. The Komets hold 2nd place in the Western Conference after 5 games with 7 points while Kansas City sets the pace with 8 points and a 4-1-0 record.
Friday night the Komets started their series with the Beacons at Port Huron with a 7-4 victory. P.C. Drouin, Colin Chaulk and Sean Venedam each enjoyed 3 point nights. It was the 2nd straight 3-point affair for Drouin. Kevin St. Pierre stopped 21 of 25 shots for the win.
Saturday the Komets pleased a home-opening crowd of 10,012 with a 4-1 win over the visiting Flint Generals. Since joining the UHL in 1999, the Komets are 5-0-1 in home openers. Chaulk registered his 2nd 3-point game in as many nights while Chris Grenville also tallied 3 points scoring 2 goals and adding an assist. St. Pierre earned his 3rd win of the season making 18 saves and continues to be unbeaten in regulation after 4 appearances so far this season.
This week the Komets prepare for 3 games. Wednesday the Komets skate at Rockford at 7:05pm in the first of 3 visits. Friday the Komets take on the UHL leading Fury at Muskegon at 6:30pm (Fort Wayne time) and Saturday the Komets return home to face the Missouri River Otters in a 7:30pm start at the coliseum.

Kaminski's River Otters here Saturday.....former Komet Kevin Kaminski has his Missouri River Otters playing at a .700 pace and tied with the Komets for 2nd place in the Western Conference after posting back-to-back shutouts over the weekend. Saturday the Otters dropped the Mallards in Quad City 3-0 and Sunday Kaminski's crew wrenched the Mechanics at Motor City 4-0. Otter goalie Jason Tapp registered the shutouts and has appeared in all 5 Missouri games thus far (3-1-1). The Komets defeated the River Otters in an exhibition game 5-2 Oct. 6 at the coliseum in Fort Wayne. Saturday night's game starts at 7:30pm and will be the first of 10 meetings this season between the 2 conference rivals and the first of 5 in Fort Wayne.
Komet Kids Halloween Parade Saturday.....all little ghouls, ghosts and goblins in Komet Land are invited to attend the Komet's home game this Saturday and take part in the Komet Kids Halloween Parade On Ice during the first intermission. Kids in costume will receive a Halloween goodie bag at the parade courtesy of the Komets and Komet corporate partners. Grand prizes will be awarded for the best costumes of the night. Kids can be treated to tickets at the Coliseum Ticket Office for as little $4.00 each. Happy Halloween from the Komets!
