Game Rewind

The K-Wings started the week on the road Friday (10/22), as they traveled to Flint, Michigan to battle the Generals. Flint used three first period goals, including two power-play goals to defeat Kalamazoo 3-0. Marco Emond stopped 23 shots to record his first shutout of the season and the first win for the Generals. Kalamazoo's Joel Martin looked good between the pipes stopping 22 of the 25 shots he faced.

After three straight on the road, the K-Wings came home to Wings Stadium on Saturday (10/23) to open up the home portion of their schedule against the Port Huron Beacons. The Beacons attempted to ruin the K-Wings party by scoring two goals in the first three minutes of action. The K-Wings used the energy generated from the 3,160 screaming K-Wings fans to mount a four goal comeback. Kalamazoo's David Struch (1,2,3) proved to be the difference maker recording the K-Wings first hat trick of the season in Kalamazoo's 4-2 victory over the Beacons. The game winning goal was scored in the second period, as Ryan Barnes lit the lamp for the first time this season. Goaltender Chad Alban stopped 20 shots to record his second victory of the season.

Fast Forward

The K-Wings will start the week on Friday (10/29), when they finish their home and home series against the Port Huron Beacons. Kalamazoo is 8-8-1 lifetime against the intra-state rivals. The K-Wings start the week in second place in the Central Division with a record of 2-2-0 (4 points), while the Beacons are sitting in fourth place in the division with a record of 1-3-0 (2 points).

The following night (10/30) the K-Wings will start a new tradition when they host the Muskegon Fury in the first-ever "Orange Ice" game. The meeting will be the first between the K-Wings and defending Colonial Cup Champions.

Besides "Orange Ice" another tradition will begin, as the K-Wings along with Kalamazoo Valley Community College will launch a brand new scholarship fund. During the game, the K-Wings will be wearing special Halloween themed jerseys. Those jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with the proceeds going to the new scholarship fund.

The game is sponsored by KVCC, WWMT, WRKR, WKFR and Pepsi. When fans leave the game they will be treated to a FREE can of Pepsi's newest product, Mountain Dew "Pitch Black" (while supplies last).

The Orange Ice Game, which is in celebration of Halloween, will feature a lot of Halloween type of activities. The contest will also be the first regular season meeting between the K-Wings and the defending Colonial Cup Champions.

Trick or Treat

K-Wings forward David Struch recorded the K-Wings first hat trick of the season, when he netted 3 goals in Kalamazoo's 4-2 victory last Saturday over Port Huron. Struch is the 19th player (24th hat trick) in K-Wings history to accomplish the feat.

Orange Ice

The K-Wings will host the first-ever "Orange Ice" game this Saturday, October 30th when the Muskegon Fury come to town. The K-Wings, who will be wearing special Halloween jerseys, will hold an auction for those jerseys after the game with the proceeds going to Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

Moving on Up With two assists on Saturday, K-Wings forward Yannick Carpentier has moved up on two of the K-Wings all-time list. With 46 assists, Carpentier is now tied with Guy Dupuis for 10th on the K-Wings UHL assists list and with 76 points Yannick is ninth on teams all-time point list.
