Richmond RiverDogs News Release


The Richmond RiverDogs are now 3-1-1 after going 2-1 last week. The ‘Dogs are in third place in the Eastern Division, one point behind the clubs in a first place tie, Elmira and Danbury. Richmond continues a four game road trip with games at Elmira and Danbury this week.

Friday, October 29 @ Elmira 7:30 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of 17 meetings and the second of nine in Elmira. ‘Dogs beat the Jackals 5-2 in the first meeting behind two Ryan Prentice goals. Richmond was 4-3-1 at Elmira last year. Jackals are the defending Eastern Conference playoff champs.

Saturday, October 30 @ Danbury 7:00 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of 17 meetings and the second of eight at the Danbury Arena. ‘Dogs were blanked in the first ever meeting with the Trashers. Danbury is off to a 3-0 start at home. John Morlang had a goal and assist in the first meeting. Clubs combined for 112 PIM in that game.

Friday, October 22 vs. Adirondack WIN 3-1

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs Francis Belanger scored two goals and Mark Langdon scored his first as a pro to lead the ‘Dogs to the win. Jeff Sanger made 22 saves and David Brosseau chipped in two assists. The 'Dogs killed off five Adirondack power plays.

Saturday, October 23 @ Elmira WIN 5-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs earned a win in their first road game of the season. Richmond scored three second period goals to blow it open. Ryan Prentice scored twice. David Hymovitz added a goal and assist. Ryan McIntosh made 38 saves. The ‘Dogs were 6-6 on the penalty kill.

Sunday, October 24 @ Danbury LOSS 3-0

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs suffered their first regulation loss of the season. Scott Stirling stopped 34 shots and the Trashers scored a pair of shorthanded third period goals. The ‘Dogs out-shot the Trashers 18-8 in the third period.

DOG BITES: The RiverDogs three game winning streak ended Sunday in Danbury. The ‘Dogs suffered their first ever October regulation loss (the ‘Dogs were 3-0 in October last year and are 6-1-1 all-time in October). The ‘Dogs have killed off 19 straight opponent power plays after allowing five power play goals in their first two games. The ‘Dogs had a season high 70 PIM in Sunday's loss at Danbury. The two clubs combined for 98 PIM in the third period. Richmond has allowed 78 shots in their last two games. The ‘Dogs held all of their first four opponents to less than 30 shots. Francis Belanger and David Brosseau had four game scoring streaks end Sunday. The ‘Dogs were shutout Sunday for the first time since 12/7/03 at Elmira. Mark Langdon scored his first pro goal Friday. The ‘Dogs continue a four game road trip this week. Richmond is in a stretch of six of seven away from home. The ‘Dogs have five games left of a run of eight straight vs. Eastern Division opponents. The ‘Dogs fired a season high 21 shots on goal in the second period at Elmira Saturday. Richmond returns home Wednesday, November 3.
