
Missouri's Jim Montgomery and Jason Tapp earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Missouri River Otters center Jim Montgomery has been named Sher-Wood Player of the Week and goaltender Jason Tapp has been named Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 24, 2004
Montgomery finished the week with seven-points (4g, 3a) and a plus-six rating in three games. He had a hand in each of the River Otters' five goals in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Rockford IceHogs. Montgomery netted a hat trick (3g), plus added two assists and finished the night with a plus-5 rating. His performance tied a River Otters team record for points in one game. He then completed the week by adding a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-0 win vs. the Motor City Mechanics. The 35-year-old Montreal, Quebec native is currently tied for fourth in the league with five goals.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack right wing Justin Kelly, Danbury defenseman J.F. David, Elmira center Greg Koehler, Flint right wing Mike Kinnie, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Kalamazoo center David Struch, Kansas City forward Joe Seroski, Motor City center Blair Manning, Muskegon center Rustyn Dolyny, Port Huron left wing David Beauregard, Quad City center Jason Deskins, Richmond center Ryan Prentice, and Rockford left wing Chris Gobert.
Tapp finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, a 1.00 GAA, .957 save percentage, and two shutouts. He made 28 saves on Friday vs. the Rockford IceHogs to earn his first victory of the season. Tapp didn't allow a goal the remainder of the weekend. He shutout Quad City on Saturday night, then shutout Motor City on Sunday to complete a perfect weekend for the Missouri River Otters. The 26-year-old native of Kelowna, British Columbia leads the league with two shutouts and is tied for second among UHL goaltenders with three wins.
