Week 2 Recap

The second week of the 2004-05 United Hockey League season is in the books and the Rockford IceHogs offense continues to click along as the Hogs split a pair of games over the weekend. The IceHogs have the most points and assists in the UHL, and no team is scoring better then the IceHogs 5.25 goals per game pace. Week 3 has three games on the schedule for Rockford including their first road game of the campaign Saturday at Motor City.

Transactions

-Defenseman Greg Snitowsky was released on Monday, October 18.

-Defenseman Ryan Bonni was signed on Tuesday, October 19.

-Bonni was activated from the 7-Day IR on Friday, October 22.

Bacon Bits:

The IceHogs lead the UHL in scoring, netting 5.25 goals per game.

Rockford also leads the UHL with 59 points and 38 assists.

IceHogs winger Chris Gobert has a point in each of the IceHogs first four games and has three multi-point games. Overall, the second year skater has 2g-7a-9pts.

Forwards Eric Labelle (2g-2a-4pts) and Terry Harrison (3g-3a-6pts) also have at least one point in each of the Hogs first four games.

Harrison has an assist in three straight games.

Thirteen of the active 16 skaters on the Hogs roster have two or more points after four games.

After a three game power play scoreless drought, Rockford netted four power play goals Saturday against Motor City.

The IceHogs set a franchise record Saturday with 19 combined power plays with the Mechanics. Rockford was 4-10 on the man advantage while Motor City was 1-9.

In two starts this season, IceHogs goalie Grady Hunt has faced a total of 22 shots in the first and second periods combined. In the third period, Hunt has faced 25 total shots.

Hot Hog: Week 2

Forward Chris Gobert: The IceHogs Week 2 Player of the Week nominee is winger Chris Gobert. The second year skater chipped in two assists in both games over the weekend. Gobert now leads the IceHogs with 2g-7a-9pts and has three multi-point games. Overall, Gobert is tied for second in the UHL in scoring.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, October 27 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. The Western Division rival Komets make their first of three trips to the MetroCentre this season. Come and Pig Out with the IceHogs and WXRX, 104.9FM with a pork chop sandwich and a beer for just $5.

Friday, October 29 vs. Kansas City Outlaws. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Another expansion team makes their first appearance in Rockford. The IceHogs will try to restore order when the Outlaws come to the big orange box. Friday night, the IceHogs will host a costume contest for fans of all ages for a pair of season tickets! Also, come dressed up and you can trick-or-treat with the IceHogs following the game.

Saturday, October 30 at Motor City Mechanics. Face-off is 6:00 p.m. Rockford's first road game of the season is their first trip to Motor City in a rematch of last Saturday's contest at the MetroCentre. The Hogs will visit the Detroit, Michigan suburbs four times this season.

Budweiser HogTalk At The Olympic Tavern:

Join the Rockford IceHogs and Budweiser at the Olympic Tavern every Monday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for HogTalk. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T. Fans can meet, chat and ask questions about Hogs hockey to IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson and the IceHogs players at the show. This week J.C. Ruid, J.F. Ruid, Terry Harrison and Chris Gobert will be at the Olympic Tavern.

Single Game Tickets Are On Sale:

Fans can purchase single game tickets for any IceHogs regular season game at the MetroCentre Box Office or by calling (815) 968-5222. Tickets start at just $7 and there are great seats available. An arena surcharge will apply to all tickets.
