TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Nashville Sounds are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. They were an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1998-2004.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their four-game series with Nashville . They are on club-record 12-game losing streak. The previous record streak was nine, set June 9-18, 2000 . The RedHawks are 8-3 on Mondays. Kendall and Talitha Newton will sing the national anthem. Tonight is BMW Motorcycle Monday. The first 50 fans to park their motorcycle on the plaza in front of the ballpark receive free admission to tonight's game.
STANDINGS: The RedHawks are in second place, three games behind Albuquerque .
LAST GAME: Nashville beat the RedHawks 10-4. Esteban German went two-for-four with two RBIs for the RedHawks. The RedHawks jumped to a 4-0 lead before Nashville scored the last 10 runs of the game.
VS. NASHVILLE: Nashville leads the all-time series between the two clubs, 61-59. The last two seasons, Jason Conti is 26-for-100 [.260] with 14 RBIs in 24 games against the Sounds. Manny Alexander is 22-for-77 [.286] with 10 RBIs in 20 games against them the last two seasons.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Oklahoma's Josh Rupe makes his fifth start this season for the RedHawks. While John Hudgins has 28 support runs through 13 starts, Rupe has had 22 support runs in four starts. Rick Helling makes his second start against the RedHawks this season. He gave up the first nine runs of Oklahoma's 10-run sixth inning April 20. The inning included a grand slam by Jason Botts and a two-run home run by Jason Conti off Helling.
STREAKERS: During the losing streak, the RedHawks are batting .256 [103-for-402] with a 7.62 ERA [88ER, 104IP]. Their opponents are batting .346 [155-for-448] with a 4.00 ERA [48ER, 108IP]. IAN KINSLER: In his last 31 games, all from the No. 2 spot in the lineup, Ian Kinsler is 42-for-128 [.328] at the plate with seven doubles, a triple, six home runs [69 total bases], 27 RBIs, 10 walks and 16 strikeouts. In his first 39 games, he batted .226 with nine doubles, eight home runs [68 total bases], 28RBIs, 11 walks and 32 strikeouts. Current batting average: .272.
RASHAD ELDRIDGE: Outfielder Rashad Eldridge is 20-for-51 [.392] with four doubles, a home run and six RBIs in his last 15 games. He has six two-hit games and a three-hit game in his last 14 games.
LAST THREE INNINGS: The RedHawks have been out-scored 39-12 the last three innings during the losing streak, but have out-scored their opponent 139-128 during the entire season in innings 7-9.
LOSING STREAKS: This is the longest losing streak in RedHawks history. According to research by The Oklahoman's Bob Hersom, the longest losing streak in Oklahoma City Triple-A history was 14 games in 1982. Last year, the RedHawks longest losing streak was four games, three times. Their last four-game losing streak of 2004 was June 10-13, a four-game sweep by Iowa at SBC Bricktown Ballpark.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: RedHawks Esteban German and Ian Kinsler were slected to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team and will play in the Triple-A All-Star Game July 13 in Sacramento , Calif. ... Manager Bobby Jones was named a coach for the World team for the XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game July 10 in Detroit. He will also be the Pacific Coast League hitting coach for the Triple-A All-Star Game ... Catcher Gerald Laird was named to the PCL All-Star team June 27 to replace Albuquerque's Josh Willingham [called up] ... Last night's triple play by Nashville in the first inning was the first triple play turned in SBC Bricktown Ballpark ... This is the first time the RedHawks have been at .500 since May 22 when they improved their record to 22-22 with a 5-3 win over Salt Lake.
