Kansas City Mavericks News Release
BRAMPTON, ON (April 10, 2015)-- The Missouri Mavericks earned a 4-1 victory over the Brampton Beast in their first of two games this weekend in Brampton, Ontario to finish out the 2014-15 season. Rookie Brett Stovin scored a hat trick for the Mavs with the opening tally and two more lamp-lighters in the third.
The Missouri Mavericks jumped onto the board early with a quick unassisted goal by rookie right winger, Brett Stovin. Brampton answered back with the equalizer at 5:23 via Justin Donati (assisted by Guy Lebouf and David Ling).
The score remained knotted 1-1 through the remainder of the opening frame and all of the second period before the Mavericks made a big offensive move in the third and final period of play.
Stovin scored his second goal of the contest at 12:26 of the third period with the help of Sebastien Thinel and Andrew Courtney to expand the Mavs lead 2-1 over the Beast. Thinel then scored his own tally at 16:15, with assists credited to Courtney and defenseman Patch Alber.
The Beast pulled net minder Parker Van Buskirk in the final minute of regulation in favor of the extra attacker, but Stovin took the opportunity to net his third lamp-lighter of the night for a 4-1 Missouri game, and his first professional hat trick, with only fifteen seconds left on the clock.
Mike Clemente made twenty-two saves for the Mavericks between the pipes through a full sixty minutes of regulation.
