Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders have acquired non-import defensive lineman ïÿýtienne L̮̩gar̮̩ from the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for the 34th overall pick in the 2013 CFL Draft.
A four-year CFL veteran, L̮̩gar̮̩ has recorded 27 tackles, six sacks, a fumble recovery and three special teams tackles in 56 games for Toronto and Edmonton. He was the Argonauts' first choice (second overall) in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft.
Prior to joining the CFL, L̮̩gar̮̩ starred at the University of Laval and in 2008 won the J.P. Metras Trophy as the CIS lineman of the year. He was on two national championship teams with the Rouge et Or.
"ïÿýtienne is an experienced player who provides Canadian depth for us on the defensive line," said Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "Our defensive coordinator Rick Campbell is very familiar with ïÿýtienne from his time on the Eskimos coaching staff and is looking forward to the opportunity to work with him."
L̮̩gar̮̩ is currently recovering from a shoulder injury but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Last season, L̮̩gar̮̩ played in five games for the Eskimos and had four defensive tackles (one for a loss) and one quarterback sack.
