Ontario Reign News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (41-15-3-3), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, fell 4-2 to the Bakersfield Condors (19-39-2-3) before a crowd of 4,622 Friday night at Rabobank Arena.
Ontario fell behind early as Jacob Legace took advantage of a long rebound to put Bakersfield up 1-0 at 2:36 of the first period.
The Reign netted a pair of power-play goals 35 seconds apart in the second frame to put Ontario up 2-1. Chris Haltigan's delay of game penalty gave the Reign a 5-on-3 at 6:37. Adrian Van de Mosselaer's one-timer from the top of the slot tied the game 1-1 just 11 seconds later. Matt Register and Mario Lamoureux recorded assists. The quick goal left the Reign 1:49 of a 5-on-4 power play and Derek Couture took advantage. The Ontario captain stationed himself at the left post of Bakersfield's net and snapped Van de Mosselaer's pass past Scott Greenham for his 21st goal of the season. Lamoureux earned his second assist of the game on the play. A Reign line change put Nick Tremblay on a breakaway and he tied the game 2-2 for Bakersfield at 17:12 as he backhanded the puck over Chris Carrozzi's glove.
Scott Freeman regained the lead for Bakersfield at 3:46 of the third period, 3-2. Carrozzi took a hit while defending a near-breakaway and went to the locker room late in regulation. Dustin Carlson took over between the pipes. Legace put the game away for Bakersfield with his second goal of the game at 17:52. The 4-2 loss was Ontario's first loss to Bakersfield in 17 games.
Carrozzi took the loss with 18 saves on 21 shots while Greenham got the win with 29 shots on 31 saves.
