Bishop Called up to American Hockey League

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Hunter Bishop has been loaned to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Bishop, 25, leads the Stingrays in points (49, 24 goals, 25 assists) and goals in 48 games played and is currently on a six-game point streak (four goals, five assists). Earlier this season, the Fairbanks, Alaska, native dressed in four total contests with the Lake Erie Monsters (three games) and Rochester Americans (one game) of the AHL adding no points. Missing last season due to injury, Bishop competed in 34 AHL contests with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2010-11 grabbing four goals and four assists for eight points. Prior to turning pro, Bishop attended Ohio State University for two seasons (2008-10) and skated in four contests with the University of North Dakota in 2006-07 totaling 59 points (29 goals, 30 assists) in 79 games.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum tonight, Friday, February 22 for the Dog Days of Winter against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. Bring your dog to the game!
