Reign Bolster Defense with Matt Register

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced they have signed defenseman Matt Register.

Register, 23, makes his ECHL debut with the Reign in his second professional season. Prior to making the trip to Ontario, Register split the beginning of the 2012-13 season between the Tulsa Oilers and the Arizona Sundogs both of the Central Hockey League. While with the two clubs Register earned 16 points scoring two goals and assisting on 14.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman made his professional debut last year with the Allen Americans of the CHL and recorded four points (1g, 3a) in 22 games.

Register spent four years playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Bonnyville Pontiacs. In his final season with the Pontiacs, Register posted an impressive 61 points (16g, 45a). He was seventh in the league in assists, led the league in defensemen, and earned the W.G. Scott Memorial Trophy for the AJHL's Best Defenseman.

Register is expected to play in tonight's game against the Stockton Thunder and will wear number 43.
