Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC: Today the Road Warriors have announced goaltender Scott Stajcer has been reassigned to the Connecticut Whale by the New York Rangers. In a separate transaction the Road Warriors have signed forward Tyler Fernandez.
Stajcer, 21, played 15 games with the Road Warriors since his reassignment on October 25th. During that time he posted a 2.72 GAA with a 91.8 SV%. The Cambridge, Ontario native had a stint on the 21 day IR which sidelined him for just over a month. Stajcer was drafted in 2009 by the New York Rangers. He was selected in the fifth round, 140th overall.
Fernandez, 24, played 41 games with the Knoxville Ice Bears this year in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The third year forward leads the team with 20 goals, 49 points and a +18 rating. Fernandez hails from Bloomfield, Connecticut. Last season, Fernandez split time with the Augusta RiverHawks and the Louisiana IceGators amassing 6 goals and 11 assists in 33 games played.
The Road Warriors begin a three game series on Friday night at 7 p.m. against the South Carolina Stingrays. The game can be heard via America One or by clicking the listen live link on the Road Warriors homepage!
