Matchup:

A back-and-forth contest between the Gwinnett Gladiators and the Orlando Solar Bears last night at Amway Center saw yet another contest between the two sides be decided by one goal. Gwinnett took an early lead at 1:53 of the first period on a goal from F Evan Bloodoff, helping Gwinnett to a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Orlando struck back in the second frame, as defensemen Ryan Blair and Edward Levens each tallied in the middle stanza, granting the Solar Bears a 2-1 lead heading into the third. The Gladiators came right back in the third frame, scoring twice in the opening five minutes to lift Gwinnett to a 3-2 win over the Solar Bears. The Solar Bears are 1-6-1-0 against Gwinnett, but seven of the eight contests have been decided by one goal.

Solar Bears Notes:

D Edward Levens scored his first professional goal late in the second period yesterday... Three players have now scored their first goals as Solar Bears in two games this week, with F Derrick Burnett and F Justin Levac each scoring their first goals on Wednesday and Levens scoring his first last night... The Solar Bears lost in regulation for the first time when leading a game going into the third period. Orlando is 14-1-1 when leading after two periods of play... F Rob Mignardi left the game in the first period last night and did not return. He is questionable for tonight's game... The Solar Bears are 4-0-0-1 at home on Friday nights... D Jesse Dudas, who recently returned from the IR, did not play yesterday and is not expected to play tonight... G Mike Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Sean Lorenz, and F Dale Mahovsky remain on the 21-day IR. Mahovsky is eligible to return in time for Thursday's game against the Reading Royals... The Solar Bears will wear special "Old Time Hockey" themed jerseys tonight.

Gladiators Notes:

F Casey Pierro-Zabotel leads the ECHL with 64 points. He is second in the league with 47 assists... F Doug Jones is third among ECHL rookies with 45 points and is tied for fourth among ECHL rookies with 18 goals. He leads all rookies with 193 shots on goal... G Jody O'Neill made his first start for the Gladiators last night, turning aside 24 of 26 shots to earn the win... D Sacha Guimond is tied for first among defensemen with 35 points and six power play goals. He is tied for second among defensemen with 27 assists... F Evan Bloodoff is tied for first among rookies with three shorthanded goals... Gwinnett is 18th on the power play at 15.4 percent (38-for-247) and 12th on the penalty kill at 82.6 percent (199-for-241)... F Casey Pierro-Zabotel leads the Gladiators in assists (47) and points (64). Rookie F Doug Jones leads the team in goals (18).
