BIG BEER TUESDAY / NEON NIGHT

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: One night after dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to the Komets at U.S. Bank Arena, the same two teams shift venues as they play the next two nights in Fort Wayne at Memorial Coliseum. The two foes are now even in the season series with two wins apiece. The Cyclones still have an offensive edge over the Komets, though, outscoring them 13-10 through four match-ups.

SCOUTING THE KOMETS: Al Simms' club is still looking to claw its way back to the top of the North Division without a few of its best players. Fort Wayne's ECHL All-Star defenseman Daniel Maggio has been promoted to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers while forward Cory Elkins was called up to the AHL's Norfolk Admirals on Thursday. To make matters worse for the Komets, Thomas Beauregard has been placed on the 21-day IR list. They are still led offensively by Brandon Marino, who is the ECHL's active leader in scoring; the talented fifth-year forward has earned 44 points (12 goals, 32 assists) in 38 games and also paces the league in assists. His goal last night was the only one scored by the Komets in regulation. Kenny Reiter, who has earned both of Fort Wayne's wins over Cincinnati, is 10-6-0-1 in 2012-13 with a goals-against average of 2.99. Marco Cousineau has also been a busy goalie of late, collecting a 3-3-0 record overall this year and a 3.17 GAA.

"Z" Gets the Call: One night after making a career-high 40 saves, Cyclones goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi was called up to the Nashville Predators in the NHL. He has played back-to-back stellar games - posting a 28 save shutout on Wednesday followed by a 40 save performance last night vs. Fort Wayne. He is 4-4-0-1 this year with a 2.33 GAA with Cincinnati.

Shutting Down the Shots: One of the Cyclones strongest statistical areas this season has been the shots-allowed. Coming into tonight, Cincinnati is allowing an average of 29.25 shots per game - the eighth fewest in the ECHL. Not surprisingly, the team defense has excelled as a result - allowing the third-fewest average goals in the league (2.69).

Busiest Month of the Season: Cincy is already three games deep into the busiest month of the year. In total, the Clones will play 15 games by the end of January. Their next busiest month will be March, when they'll skate in 14 games over 31 days. Over the last four seasons (including this year), the Clones have gone 33-21-0-3 in January.
