Gladiators' Winning Streak Snapped in 2-1 Loss

November 17, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators (11-4-1-0) fell 2-1 to the Greenville Road Warriors (11-4-1-0) at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday night. The loss halted the Gladiators winning streak at eight games.

Despite outshooting the Road Warriors in the first period, the Gladiators couldn't solve Greenville's Nathan Lieuwen as the period ended scoreless. Lieuwen stopped all 16 of Gwinnett's shots, while Gwinnett's Mike Lee stopped all six shots he faced.

Brendan Connolly put the Road Warriors on the board with the first goal of the game 4:01 into the second to give the Road Warriors a 1-0 lead. Connolly shot went right over the glove of goaltender Lee.

The Gladiators answered 9:23 into the second and tied the score 1-1 with a goal by Rylan Galiardi. Galiardi had helpers from Dallas Jackson and Casey Pierro-Zabotel. The marker was put home after Jackson and Zabotel set up the goal on the power play.

Greenville's Steven Delisle scored the game-winning goal for the Road Warriors with only six seconds left in the third. The puck slipped through traffic and beat Lee through the five hole to put the game away.

Gwinnett will travel to North Charleston Sunday to face the South Carolina Stingrays for the third time this season. The Gladiators return home to the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Thanksgiving Day as they host the Orlando Solar Bear @ 7:05 p.m.
