PEORIA, Ill. - The Burlington Bees (62-60, 30-23) swept the Peoria Chiefs (54-68, 19-34) with a 5-to-4 victory in game three. Friday night's win also marked the fifth consecutive win for the Bees, a milestone they've reached twice this season.

Drew Granier gave the Bees another strong effort on Friday. In fact, the right-hander went above and beyond in game three by play- ing threw pain. Granier dislocated his non-throwing shoulder after he received a throw from his catcher John Nester. The Bees' athletic trainer Travis Tims brought Granier back into the dugout, popped the shoulder back in, and watched Granier continue his outing. The right-hander hasn't missed a start this season and has pitched the second most starts with 25.

Granier pitched five innings and allowed three hits and a season-high five walks. Two of the three hits he allowed were solo home runs. However, the right-hander also struck out six and kept the Bees in the game.

Trailing 1-to-0, the Bees scored their first run in the top of the fifth when Sean Jamieson led off with "no-doubter" over the left field wall. The home run gave Jamieson a total of 10 on the season, which tied him with Douglas Landaeta for the second highest total of dingers on the team.

The Bees scored two runs in the top of the sixth after Granier allowed a home run in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded and one out, Rashun Dixon hit a ground ball to the short, which the shortstop tossed to second to start a 6-4-3 double play. The Chiefs' sec- ond baseman received the ball for one out, but bobbled the ball in an attempt to transfer it into his throwing hand. The second baseman watched the ball trickle away and two runs scored. The Bees took a 3-to-2 lead after they capitalized on another mistake by the Chiefs. Peoria's club made eight errors in the three-game set.

Aaron Shipman also delivered a clutch two-run single with two-men in scoring position and one out in the top of the seventh. The Bees' center fielder ripped a base hit past the drawn-in infield for his second hit of the night. The Bees led 5-to-3 heading into the seventh in- ning stretch.

Chas Mye (4-0) allowed one run to score in the bottom of the seventh, but eventually got the win. David Mota and Seth Frankoff com- bined for 2.1 innings out of the pen, and Jose Macias earned his fifth save by closing the door in the ninth.

The Bees remain two games back of the first place Clinton LumberKings and now have a three-game lead on the Kane County Cou- gars.

Blake Hassebrock (1-0) returns to Community Field and will start on Saturday night. The first pitch of a four-game series against the Kane County Cougars is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.

The A's will send their first round pick from the 2012 draft to Burlington to join the team on Saturday. Addison Russell (11th overall pick) will take Chih-Fang Pan's place on the roster. Pan will move to the disabled list after he injured his right-shoulder trying to avoid a tag at second base in a game at Quad Cities.
